Spurs could be in line for January transfer splurge

Daniel Levy appears to have reacted to Tottenham's 5-2 defeat (again) to Arsenal in the only way he knows how.
No, it's not sacking Andre Villas-Boas as manager, it's according to the Daily Star, handing him a huge transfer kitty to continue his revolution of the Tottenham squad in the January transfer window.
Having quickly, and perhaps rightly, come to the conclusion that having Tom Huddlestone plodding around in the centre of midfield is hardly likely to turn Spurs into Top 4 contenders again, the Lilywhites are being linked with moves for CSKA Moscow midfield ace Alan Dzagoev, he who so impressed during Euro 2012, as well as Miralem Pjanic and long-time target Joao Moutinho.
The idea of course is to replace Luka Modric's now departed to Real Madrid influence for Spurs. So essentially, Villas-Boas is after someone who barely scores and barely assists....what was Rafael Van der Vaart sold for again?
Well perhaps considering his game time so far at the Bernabeu, where a frankly quite robotic Michael Essien is often seen to be picked ahead of him, a return to White Hart Lane for Modric is not entirely out of the question.
