Liverpool linked with Reading central defender

My my, Liverpool are certainly making the transfer headlines this morning.
In a rumour that may surprise many, or not considering Liverpool's transfer policy in recent seasons, the Mirror are reporting that Brendan Rodgers could be eyeing a swoop for Reading centre-back Alex Pearce, a player he worked with in his unsuccessful spell in charge of the Royals.
Pearce has gained rave reviews for his performances for the newly-promoted side this season, displays that have now reached their zenith with rumours of a move to Anfield.
However, there are some who may wonder what happened to the days when Liverpool would actually be linked with top-class players, rather than those who though young and promising, have only really been proven at Championship level.
Not that that was always a rip-roaring success. Perhaps it's wise to point out the rather prominent examples of Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing, not mention until very recently Glen Johnson at this moment in time.
