No one is having Wickham

Ever since he made his debut for Ipswich Town at such a young age of just 16, many clubs in England have been keeping their eyes on the Sunderland striker.
Now it’s Sheffield Wednesday’s turn to take an interest in the young Englishmen, but Martin O’Neill isn’t impressed with the approach and has stated that Wickham isn’t going anywhere even on loan.
It seems the Sunderland boss may as well walk round with a shirt saying “Wickham isn’t for sale!” to make sure he isn’t hounded again by another club.
As the Black Cats paid an initial fee of £8.1 million for the 19 year old in June 2011 O’Neill told his Chief Executive that they couldn’t afford to let any player go not alone someone with such a high price tag.
However although Wickham is rated so highly he has only scored once in 20 Premier league appearances for the club and it seems he may be looking for a loan spell to ensure he gets regular first team football.
For now he is staying in the North East as Sunderland aren’t prepared to let Wickham go to easily especially after paying to fee they paid for him.
