City want Genoa keeper to challenge Hart

After last night’s heroic performance from Manchester City’s shot-stopper Joe Hart, it may come as a bit of a shock for some of us, but Roberto Mancini is keeping his beady eye on a young Italian Goalkeeper to compete with Hart for the number 1 shirt.

Mattia Perin is a floppy-haired teenager that’s widely regarded as one of the most promising prospects currently emerging from Europe, and Mancini’s sneaky Italian scouting team are ready to make sure he is a City player by the end of the season.

Despite being 8ft10, Costel Pantilimon has yet to impress the residents of the Etihad stadium, and has conceded more goals in his minute space of playing time than Mancini has waved imaginary cards at the officials.

‘What about Richard Wright?’ I hear you scream. Well, actually, no I don’t.

Perin is currently applying his trade on loan for Serie A amateurs Pescara, but if City get their way then he will have the youngster trying to fill the boots of Pantilimon, which is a hard thing to ask anybody, even if your name is sideshow Bob.
