Who next in the tractor's driving seat?

Since Paul Jewell left Ipswich Town there has been no end of speculation as to who will be next in the driving seat of the tractor at Portman Road.
Reports from various sources have hinted at Jewell's successor with the most widely touted choices as Canning Town's can-do man, Alan Curbishley and Yorkshire's answer to Desperate Dan, Mick McCarthy. But it appears we have a winner, according to the East Anglian Daily Times. Apparently the former Wolves and Sunderland manager is set to be in place before the weekend when his project to restore the club to a more respectable league standing must start straight away. If he does get the nod he will face a tricky first game away to Birmingham City at St. Andrews where I'm sure as an ex-employee of their friends down the road, Wolverhampton Wanderers, he will receive a warm and supportive reception.
I'm sure that regardless of who gets the job the Ipswich Town faithful will be longing to have someone who can bring some stability to the club and halt the slide down the league. The glory days of European football at Portman Road seem a long way away but they will be a mere speck on the horizon when viewed from League One.
