Brunt ready to discuss terms for new deal at the Hawthorns

As hard as it may be to care about a little bit of West Brom transfer news (who are they again? I kid, I kid), it's still October and this is currently as good as it gets.

To be fair, Baggies fans will be delighted to read Goal.com's suggestions that club captain Chris Brunt is ready to begin talks over an extension to his contract at the club.

Brunt is one of the club's better players and it would be a shame for their good start this season to go awry due to contractual issues. Just look at what has happened to Arsenal with the likes of Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri, Robin Van Persie and now Theo Walcott.

OK so Brunt is no Van Persie, but the implication remains the same. Contractual issues have become a vital part of today's game.
