Porto to ward off interest in United target

FC Porto have made adjustments in Manchester United James Rodriguez’s contract in order to ward off interest from the Premier League outfit. TalkSPORT are reporting that the Portuguese giants have risen the release clause in his deal from £25m to £38m.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Colombia international in recent weeks, having netted four times in eight appearances for Porto this season. It had seen 21-year-old mooted with a possible switch to Old Trafford in January.

However, manager Sir Alex Ferguson will now have to smash the club’s transfer record, £30.75m for Dimitar Berbatov in 2008, if he is to land his top target.
