Saints target out of favour Spurs ace

Out of favour Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson has emerged as a top target for out of form Premiership side Southampton. The Daily Mirror is reporting the recently promoted South Coast outfit have targeted the defender as manager Nigel Adkins looks to shore up his leaky defence.

Saints have conceded a record 24 league goals in eight games already this year, an average of three per game. Dawson’s future at White Hart Lane is currently under the microscope and he currently finds himself at the bottom of the pecking order, regardless of injuries to Younes Kaboul and Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

QPR attempted to sign the England international in the summer, but failed to agree personal terms. And it now appears Adkins is prepared to part with £7.5m in order to preserve Saints’ Premier League status.
