Liverpool look to ease striking worries

The Daily Star is on Tuesday reporting that Liverpool are set to make a January move for FC Schalke 04 front-man Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The Dutchman has regularly been linked with a big money move to the Premiership, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur showing a strong interest in the past.

However, the Reds are now seemingly set to leapfrog their Premiership rivals in the race to sign the 29-year-old, with the Merseysiders desperate to bolster their striking ranks. Manager Brendan Rodgers recently lost Fabio Borini to a foot injury and can only call upon Luis Suarez as his recognised front-man.

With And Carroll on-loan at West Ham United, Liverpool are in desperate need of another striker and Huntelaar, who netted 48 goals in 47 games for Schalke last season, appears to be a top target for Rodgers in January.
