      Gerrard wants to remain at Anfield beyond 2014

      Steven Gerrard is hopeful of remaining at Anfield beyond the end of his current contract, which expires in 2014. The Reds captain told the Liverpool Echo that he is excited about the upcoming regime under new manager Brendan Rodgers, despite a slow start to life on Merseyside for you the young boss.

      Rodgers arrived at the club from Swansea City over the summer, but only picked up his first win as Liverpool manager in the 5-2 win over Norwich City on Saturday. Despite the poor start by the club, Gerrard insists he is loving life under the Northern Irishman.

      The Reds skipper added he is more than capable of contributing to the club for many more years, despite his current deal expiring in a little over 18 months time.
