Spurs miss out on German U-21 star

Until Andre Villas-Boas signs a midfield player in the Luka Modric-mould, then we will continue to be bombarded with transparent rumours of who it will eventually be.

The latest name doing the rounds at White Hart Lane is German under-21 player Patrick Herrmann.

His hair may not be as scraggly, nor his nose as vulgar as Modric’s, but Herrmann has the potential to match the Croat if he continues to progress at a rate as fast as Aaron Lennon’s 100m sprint.

According to The Daily Mail, the 21-year old has laughed off reports that he is about to swap Monchengladbach for London and asked the German press, Why would I?

Obviously he hasn’t been told that Tottenham were the first British club to win a UEFA club competition, but I’m sure it won’t take long until a Spurs fan mentions it…it never does.
