Longer spell in the Championship for Ross?

Ross Barkley has been tipped for a great future at Everton, and Dave Jones, manager of Sheffield Wednesday where the teenager is on loan, wishes to keep the starlet for a little while longer.

The 18-year-old’s loan deal runs out this weekend, but Jones is hoping for a resolution.

“"Hopefully we can keep Ross," said Jones in the Sheffield Star.

"I think they [Everton] want us to have him because the kid hasn't done anything wrong.

"Ross is a kid and going to make mistakes, but he's some player when he drives on and plays the way he does."

David Moyes has great hopes for the Everton youngster, and after seeing Dan Gosling and Jack Rodwell both departing in recent seasons, he will hope that this time he can hang on and make a career out of a midfielder brought through the Everton academy. The youngster, who has been capped at all youth levels for England, has made 10 appearances for Everton in all competitions, and scored his first senior goal from the penalty spot for Sheffield Wednesday against Bolton Wanderers on the 22nd September.

When it comes to approaching Everton (and notoriously angry Scot Moyes),  Jones will hope his not bark-ing up the wrong tree.
