Rodgers to rule out permanent move for out-of-favour Chelsea forward

Brendan Rodgers' desperation for a new striker may be obvious for all to see at Liverpool but thankfully, he appears to have a little sense about him and according to the Mirror, will refuse to pay £20 million to take Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

Instead, Rodgers prefers a loan deal with an option-to-buy as he seeks to sense the England international's loyalty to the cause.

One only wishes that Kenny Daglish could have shone a little more common sense in his time in charge Anfield, with the £20million+ purchases of Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll only bringing laughter rather than tangible quality on the pitch.
