Gunners aim to pip Spurs in striker hunt

Arsenal look set to move for Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, according to reports in the Daily Star. The powerful front-man has regularly been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and is believed to have come close to moving to White Hart Lane last summer.

Spurs look set to renew their interest in the front-man in January, once the Brazilian season comes to an end, but could face stiff competition from the Gunners. Manager Arsene Wenger spent heavily on his front-line over the summer, but is willing to pip their rivals in the race to sign the youngster.

Wenger has targeted Leandro as he looks to continue filling the void left by the departure of Robin van Persie and despite the arrivals of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud over the summer, the loss of Gervinho to the African Cup of Nations could persuade the Frenchman to move for the 23-year-old.
