Dutch World Cup legend takes the reins at Barnet

There haven't been many times that Barnet have been the main headline on the BBC Football website, but that's how it is this morning with the side bottom of the entire football league announcing that Dutch legend Edgar Davids, once of Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Tottenham and err....Crystal Palace, has signed on at Underhill as joint player-Head Coach.

It's safe to say that this is without a doubt, the biggest signing in Barnet's history even if Davids is now at the ripe old age of 39 and in his last spell in football at Crystal Palace, appeared to struggle with the basic principle of walking let alone running at left-back.

The cynics will suggest this is just a publicity move to help drag the attention away from Barnet's ominous start to the season...but even if it is, who cares. To suggest a few years ago that Edgar Davids would be plying his trade in League Two would have seen the men in white coats being called, so let's just enjoy it while it lasts.
