    Newcastle target Norwegian ace

Newcastle United are ready to spend big once the transfer window re-opens, with the Sun suggesting manager Alan Pardew has made Modle midfielder Jo Inge Berget his top target.

The Magpies boss has seen his side get off to a stuttering start this year as they look to better their fifth place finish from last season. He is now expected to bolster his squad in January, with chairman Mike Ashley ready to provide the funds to move for the Norway ace.

Pardew recently signed an eight-year deal at St James’ Park with Ashley set to free up some money for the transfer of Berget, who is likely to cost Newcastle around £2m.
