Spurs ready to appetize Del Piero

Tottenham are ready to offer Italian striker Alessandro Del Piero a chance to shine in the Premier League, according to sources in Italy.

The 36-year-old has been an ever-present with Serie A outfit Juventus since 1993 - the same year that Bill Wyman announced his departure from The Rolling Stones - but after almost 700 appearances for the Vecchia Signora, the maestro has called time on his Italian adventure.

Reports in the Italian press suggest that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is ready to offer the World Cup winning captain a new challenge in England, although, AC Milan are also pondering a move for the striker.

The forward would face stiff competition to earn a first-team spot if he was to move to North London with the likes of Jermain Defoe, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roman Pavlyuchenko on the books at White Hart Lane.; however, all three players' futures are uncertain with Defoe and Pavlyuchenko both linked with January transfers, whilst Adebayor's loan deal expires at the end of the season with no permanent deal being mooted yet.

Del Piero started his career with Padova before making the career-making switch to Bianconeri. The home faithful caught a sight of what might be after scoring a hat-trick on his first start against Parma. Undoubtedly, it will be a wrench to leave his club, but a swansong possibly awaits in England.
