Is this the season Wigan Athletic go down?

Wigan Athletic have developed a knack of picking up form towards the tailend of March in recent years that has continuously seen them avoid the drop into the Championship.

Roger Espinoza's path to the Premier League (Video)

With the likes of Wilson Palacios, Hendry Thomas and Maynor Figueroa representing the club in recent years, the nationality of new signing Roger Espinoza will come as no great surprise to Wigan fans.

Have Wigan outstayed their welcome in the Premier League?

After coming up to the Premier League in 2005, Wigan Athletic have never looked back.

A Review of Wigan vs. Reading: Attacking Flair or Just very Bad Defending?

You could have been mistaken for watching an El Classico given the openness and end-to-end action in the Wigan vs. Reading game. With Wigan heading into the game after back-to-back defeats and missing key players - most notably their captain Gary Caldwell- an open game was on the cards, particularly as Wigan stuck to their infamous 3-4-3 formation.

Can Wigan topple the Reds at Anfield again?

Whilst some people may believe Wigan Athletic have outstayed their welcome in the Premier League, the club continues to prove why they deserve their place in the top flight each year.  However, they do this by not only securing a place within the top 17 of England’s first division, but also by pulling off some quite extraordinary results.

    Figueroa beauties (Video)

Remember when Wigan's left back scored Maynor Figueroa scored that incredible goal in 2009 from inside is own half? That was ridiculous. Figueroa has been a regular starter for Wigan going on nearly four years and he does a decent enough job. I think it would be fair to say that manager Roberto Martinez gets the best out of him.

    Tip top Al Habsi

In Wigan's game against Stoke earlier this, Ali Al-Habsi made what will probably end up being save of the season. Late in the game, Stoke had a free-kick just outside Wigan's box and up stepped Charlie Adam.

Adam hit the ball well enough but it took a deflection and Al-Habsi was able to shift his body weight in mid-air and get a hand to ball to punch it away, preserving a point for his team.

I have long believed that Al-Habsi is one of the top three goalkeepers in the Premier League and it is only a matter of time until a big club comes calling.

Always such a consistent performer, here are the best bits from his excellent 2011/12 season.

The myth of the “Brendan Rodgers method”

After one of the youngest sides Liverpool have ever put out claimed Brendan Rodgers’ first domestic victory in charge over West Brom as the Reds progressed to the next round of the League, in came the praise again for the so-called Brendan Rodgers philosophy.

Brendan Rodgers and Paul Lambert, what were they thinking?

As Norwich City and Swansea City entered the Premier League last season, there were not many who gave them a chance of even staying the league, nevermind finishing mid-table. A year later, however, and Swansea are continuing to prosper under the management of Michael Laudrup whilst Norwich, struggling slightly, are still posting good results.

The three men that could replace Redknapp

Harry Redknapp has been unusually quiet in recent weeks hasn’t he? Speculation across the blogosphere suggest it is because he is set to leave White Hart Lane later this week. Others claim all is well at Tottenham Hotspur between himself and chairman Daniel Levy and that a new deal is set to be signed.

Liverpool's love triangle close to unraveling

Liverpool’s pursuit of a new manager has now reached that stage in the film where the protagonist has been stringing along two different people for a while now, accidentally arranging dinner dates with them both at the SAME time, mixing up the gifts he was meant to send so that the kooky, experimental vegan gets a “1001 things you can do with beef” cookbook and the slightly uptight office worker gets some saucy underwear and other hilarious escapades.

Oh my god, they killed Kenny

If there was one piece of breaking news to take the attention away from Roy Hodgson’s England squad selection, then the story that Kenny Dalglish has been sacked by Liverpool is that one piece.

    An angry Gooner

I don’t think I’ve used the F and C word so much in one night as I did after the Wigan game.
