Scotland In Europe - For A Limited Time Only

Does any European league have a worse record in UEFA competition over the past couple of seasons than the SPL?  I would highly doubt it.  Last season, Hibernian, Motherwell and Dundee United knocked out in the Qualifying Rounds of the Europa League, Celtic knocked out of the Qualifying Rounds of both the Champions League and Europa League.  Rangers dropping out of the Champions League and then getting knocked out of the Europa League after mustering a meagre one win in ten games.

It is of no surprise that a number of European Cups have been won by some of the poorest areas, not least Liverpool.

    Ireland: An Improvement of Sorts

This fatalism is reflected in the way that Trappatoni sets up his team, with Glenn Whelan and Keith Andrews anchoring the midfield and McGeady and Duff providing attacking options from the wings. Doyle and Keane give the "little and large" combination so often seen in striking partnerships.

    The problem facing Spanish football

Some football fans believe La Liga is slowly becoming the biggest and best league in the world. Trying to avoid the madness of Diouf

As the bustle of transfer deadline day passed in a wave of sporadic, underwhelming business, one piece of news seemed to go unnoticed, sneaking through the backdoor whilst everybody’s interest was hooked to the main transfer attractions. That news was not a signing, but the information that Blackburn had come to an agreement on the mutual termination of El Hadji Diouf’s contract, Steve Kean had lost patience and the striker was free to find another club.

    Celtic have lost their bottle

The league looks to have slipped past Celtic for another year running. A Celtic team full of hope gelled together by an excellent manager have thrown it all away but what I can’t tell is have they deserved to win the league?

A Treble Treble Could Be Trouble

In football, just like any other walk of life, certain things go in and out of fashion. Bands, clothes, artists, styles all rise and fall as trends dictate. Some are mourned when they pass, others like the mullet are so earth-shatteringly awful they remain reviled to this day.
