So what does an angry 'Wenger Out!' fan do when the 'In Arsene We Trust' banners come out and everyone thinks we are back, and fourth is no problem?
It seems that for the first time this season, Arsenal’s defenders are providing Arsene Wenger with a welcome dilemma. The team has already shipped 21 league goals this season and the centre back position has always been a cause for concern over recent years. And with West Brom (who put 5 past the Gunners home and away last season) visiting the Emirates on Saturday, Wenger will have to decide what he feels is the best pairing at the heart of Arsenal’s defence.
In the 82nd minute of a tense affair at the Emirates, Arsenal are struggling to break down a stubborn Sunderland side after former Gunner Sebastian Larsson’s wonderful free-kick cancels out Robin Van Persie’s early opener. In a performance so typical of the North London side in recent times, the passing is crisp and neat, yet there is no penetration and a lack of ideas in the final third. Yet, it is in these times when truly special players come up trumps and in Robin Van Persie, Arsenal have exactly that.
Eight clubs will offer midfielder David Beckham, 36. a return to English football.
The Welsh midfield general has been a victim of a lot of criticism in the early stages of this season. With no marquee signing to replace Cesc Fabregas, Ramsey was given the unfortunate burden of the expectation to emulate Cesc. Cesc is a special player, and a year of Aaron's development was cut out by that horrific leg-break. The injury came at the worst time possible, as he was just starting to impose himself on the starting eleven.
If you stopped the average football fan in the street and asked him who the best player in England has been this season, I expect he would say David Silva. Rafael Van Der Vaart might get a mention, as might Luis Suarez or Wayne Rooney. However in my opinion, one player stands head and shoulders above the rest – and that player is Robin Van Persie.
Arsenal is well documented on their youth policy. Ever since manager Arsene Wenger arrived at the club back in September 1996, in which he brought youngster, and future captain, Patrick Vieira with him, his stance on youth football was well established.
So does Park still sit about until RVP is injured or rested ... because you (AW) only like one central striker – and that’s it ? Or will you put him on the pitch anywhere – like on the wing – as with other central strikers who couldn’t play well out wide ?
Arsene seems to be set on playing both Walcott and Gervinho (or Arshavin) in the same team - and it will take a great deal (or injuries) for Le Boss to change his mind. Two fast raiders and “ attack is the best form of defence “ (yawn) ... but we don’t all like it.
Arsenal moved to seventh in the table with a deserving 3-1 victory over Stoke City in a weekend that produced some shocking results
Arsene Wenger is a trove of information. His knowledge about the beautiful game is amongst the best in the world and you can generally see that transpiring in press conferences.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will offer Carlos Tevez a Premier League lifeline.
