Arsenal Miss Out On Leyton Orient Youngster - Why They Should Have Signed Him

Moses Odubajo is a player that is probably unknown to most Arsenal fans, despite being a reported target of both the Gunners and Tottenham. He eventually signed for Brentford in the Championship just before the sale of Leyton Orient to Italian business man Francesco Becchetti. This is thought to have influenced the transfer of Odubajo, as ex-chairman Barry Hearn wanted his last bit of cash before leaving the O’s and he couldn’t wait for Tottenham or Arsenal to make their minds up regarding whether or not they wanted to buy him.

Moses Odubajo was a fan favourite for Orient and really started to turn heads on the final day of the 2011/12 campaign, when he ran from his own half before unleashing a thunder bolt into the roof of the net from 20 yards on his first league start for the club. Since then he has been a regular for the East Londoners, starting every single league game last season and scoring 10 goals along the way.

The youngster is a very hard worker that is equally good at getting back and defending as he is at attacking. He can play on either wing but preferably is a right winger. The 20-year-old can also play right back, which is where he played for the majority of the 2012/13 season before being moved to the wing last season. Extremely quick and agile, he loves to take on a full-back, and the maturity that he shows for someone so young is also quite incredible.

Brentford have hit the jackpot signing Moses and I’m sure he will be a regular for them next season. In my opinion, Arsenal have missed out on a great young talent who I have no doubt will be an England international eventually. Orient fans were very sad to see him leave but all wish him every success for the future.
