Reds Consider How Suarez Money Should Be Spent - Why There Is No Need To Panic

Liverpool fans have been boosted by the news that the total fee received from the sale of Luis Suarez, believed to be around £75 million, will be available to Brendan Rodgers in the transfer market.  The Times reported that the Reds’ manager will be able to reinvest the money into his playing squad, as the Northern Irishman attempts to build a side capable of going one better than their second-placed finish last season.

Despite the funds raised from the Uruguayan’s departure, Liverpool supporters will be wary that their club not do what Tottenham did following the sale of Gareth Bale last summer.  The reported world record fee the Wales international earned Spurs was believed by many pundits to have been squandered on several average players rather than a few quality ones.

The White Hart Lane side were often labelled a one-man team due to Bale’s frequent match-winning performances, which could now be considered rather unfair on many of his former team-mates who went on to finish just one Premier League position lower without him.  Although there is no doubting the winger’s enormous ability, Spurs not only survived following his exit but managed to maintain a similar standard of results.

That is exactly what Liverpool will look to do as they continue life without Suarez.  How the rumoured £75 million is spent could well be significant, but it is not necessarily the be-all and end-all.
