New Chelsea Signing Rejected Manchester United - Why It Was A Good Decision

Chelsea secured a £12m deal for France U21 defender Kurt Zouma back in January and will be looking forward to him arriving at Stamford Bridge in the next few months. The Saint-Etienne centre-half had the pick of a couple of clubs, according to reports, but turned them down to work with Jose Mourinho. Manchester United were one of the clubs he rejected, and I think he was right to do so.

Yes, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are leaving the club but that can also be seen as a disadvantage. Unlike at Chelsea with John Terry and Gary Cahill, United do not currently have a leader at the back that Zouma could learn off.

There is a stable defensive set up in west London - they had the best defence in the league last season - and Zouma will settle in nicely.

There will be no pressure on him to make an impact straight away and can learn from one of the most impressive defenders the Premier League has ever seen.

For me he was right to turn down the turbulence of United for a stable environment at Chelsea.
