Shaqiri Linked With Liverpool - Why The Reds Should Sign Him

The World Cup is a stage on which many players use to great effect in terms of attracting the interest of the biggest clubs in the game.  Despite already being at Bayern Munich, that is exactly what Switzerland winger Xherdan Shaqiri’s performances have done for him.

According to the Express, the 22-year-old is a target for Premier League runners up Liverpool, who are looking to push on after an incredible season in which they just missed out on winning the title.  Having become only a bit-part player under Pep Guardiola at the German champions, a move could well suit all parties.

Shaqiri featured in just 17 Bundesliga matches for Bayern last season, which didn’t really give the playmaker a chance to consistently show his potential.  Rather than struggle to force his way into a team already at the very top and who won the Champions League as recently as 2013 as part of an impressive treble, seeking pastures new at Anfield would see the Switzerland international join a club on the brink of success.

Without having to play alongside so many established heroes as he does in Munich, Shaqiri would allow himself the chance to become a fan favourite with the Reds.  Helping to take Brendan Rodgers’ side to the next level would be the best way of achieving that, and if granted regular playing time he is good enough do it.
