The Impossible Job: Why Sherwood IS The Right Man To Lead Spurs Forward

Tottenham Hotspur will only have themselves to blame should they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season. Sources from Sky Sports have stated that their manager Tim Sherwood has until the end of the campaign before his brief tenure at White Hart Lane is brought to an end.

It is a disgrace that the future of Sherwood is being made public at such a critical stage of the season. Sherwood’s record to date is nothing to be ashamed of and they still harbour top four ambitions following a brilliant performance in Monday’s 5-1 hammering of Sunderland.

Spurs have fallen short against the cream of the crop this season, which could ultimately be their downfall come what May. However it is impossible to point the finger solely at Sherwood. He is managing an unbalanced team that was assembled by previous Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas. Summer signings are still settling in, but there is no doubt that the squad at White Hart Lane does have underlying quality in abundance.

Under Sherwood, Spurs have compiled a superb record of results against the sides below them in the Premier League table. Their remaining five games all come under this category so it would not be a surprise to me if they managed to sneak into the final qualifying place for the Champions League.

In time, Sherwood will add belief and the will to win that they have lacked against the leading teams this season. Maybe then we will see a side that could spring a surprise title challenge. Just remember what has happened to Liverpool this season.

Sherwood’s record to date is nothing to be ashamed. Really, his record is average at best, 11 wins, 2 draws and 9 losses in all competitions. Compare that with AVBs record of 17 wins, 4, draws and 5 losses.

They've been knocked out of every cup, and are further behind the teams above them than when Sherwood took over, despite Arsenal only winning 1 of their last 6 games, and that was against Spurs.

Under Sherwood Spurs have managed to win only one game against the teams above them.
However the real problem is the slow start to every single match they have played since he took over.
He then has to rely on Adebayor and Eriksen to turn it around every week.

Couple of points ..... do you REALLY think that this is AVB's team, because you must be the only one who does?! It seems fairly apparent that you never get the players you want with Levy, but only the players he is prepared to buy at the price buyers are prepared to charge, If Van Gael is going to get the job, he'll need to be very clear in his negotiations what Levy WILL agree to if it is not to all end badly. The important point for me is that Sherwood inherited a side without stability, and failed to provide any himself. He still doesn't have a clue who is in his best team, and I doubt he will by the time he goes. In other words, Spurs are paying him to learn on the job

Should have kept AVB to complete the season with the team assembled under him. Sherwood has not improved the club. Scoring may be better, but, goals against and points per match are now worse.

    AVB - 16 games 9 wins, 3 draws, 4 losses, 30 points, 1.875 pts per match
    Sherwood - 17 games 9 wins 2 draws 6 losses 29 points, 1.706 pts per match

Yes Sherwoods record is shocking,he chose the players not avb,the swine we are scoring goals unlike avb,s all but nil nil draws won with penalties.Unlike avb who trounced all the top teams, beat Arsenal ,beat all the top Europa leagues teams ,thrashed West Ham yup avb the dogs bollox thats portoplonker ,like our other fantastic Iberian manager their plying there trade in Putin land, says it all to me.COYS

"It is a disgrace that the future of Sherwood is being made public at such a critical stage of the season. " That's Sky then. They had to do something to boost viewing figures for Monday's game but in reality everyone knew this before. Almost feeol sorry for Sherwood being used as media fodder, but he has to go. Massively out of his depth -everybody knows this apart from him and Jamie Redknapp.

Just another point Mike,so the difference between the golden boy of football managment and a totally inexperienced idoit is, .169 of a point, huge differance FFS,and if you factor in the 3 games we won purely on a penalty, which Bobby put away, which our normal penalty takers would have missed your looking at a points differance of at least 4 which would reduce Golden boys point tally significantly. Thanks but I'll have North London Tim,at a North London club instead of the the most overated, ask Chelsea fans what they think of him, idiot of them all .COYS
