Arsenal Need To Make A Move For Lukaku - Here's Why

Sunday’s game at Goodison Park once again underlined Romelu Lukaku’s status as one of the most sought after strikers in the Premier League. It seems absurd that Jose Mourinho does not want to hold on to a player who could be the missing piece in the goal-shy puzzle that is threatening to come apart at Stamford Bridge. London rivals Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in the 20-year-old and I believe he would be the perfect fit for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Ironically it was Lukaku who tormented the Gunners on Sunday afternoon and his direct and powerful style was what Arsenal were crying out for. The away side were tentative and unambitious in their approach against an Everton team who will fancy their chances of finishing in the final qualification spot for the UEFA Champions League.

The absence of Theo Walcott has highlighted the lack of players that Arsenal have who will take a risk and get in behind defences. Arsenal on their day are sublime to watch, but they have missed a striker to both support and lighten the burden on Olivier Giroud. Lukaku provides pace, power and is a prolific finisher, having scored 12 goals in 24 Premier League appearances this campaign.

Lukaku can provide Arsenal with a variety of options which Wenger’s men have lacked for so long. Without a doubt they have been unlucky with injuries, but it is impossible to ignore the lack of quality Arsenal possess in the forward department. Wenger must show immediate interest should the Belgian international become available.
