Ramsey Return Too Late For Arsenal, But Midfielder Will Enhance Champions League Hopes

Although it is still mathematically possible for Arsenal to win the Premier League in what would be highly unlikely circumstances, it looks as though their campaign for a first league title since 2004 is over for another year.

When it is time to fully dissect Arsenal's season as a whole, their fans will be able to point to a remarkably long injury list that has hindered their progress in the second half of a season that promised so much in the opening stages. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

It sounds familiar because if you're an Arsenal fan. It is a familiar scenario and this is not the first time injuries to significant players have made things very difficult for Arsene Wenger's team. Of course, heavy defeats at the hands of Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have not helped either but if your squad is fully fit and all options are available to you then things may have been a little different.

Who knows? This is football, after all, and every club must deal with injuries but surely an internal investigation at Arsenal must be next, to find out why exactly the same problems occur year after year.

Anyway, it looks as though long term absentee Aaron Ramsey (last seen on Boxing Day) is due to return to the squad as they travel to Everton on Sunday. You'll remember, of course, that the Welshman was having the season of his life before a hamstring inexplicably kept him out of action for over four months.

The game carries much importance, too, as Everton are gaining ground on Arsenal in fourth place and a win here would really get Arsenal fans sweating. They will hope the return of Ramsey, though, will help finish the season with a flourish.
