Arsenal WILL End Trophy Drought This Season - Here's Why

Arsenal's hope of ending their nine-year long trophy drought has been boosted, as the Gunners will welcome their return of their star midfielder Aaron Ramsey for the weekend fixture against Everton.

The Welsh international was sidelined since Arsenal's 3-1 victory over West Ham United at Upton Park on Boxing Day. Arsene Wenger has confirmed the midfielder is fit to face Everton later this weekend as Ramsey is set to play his first game of the calendar year.

The Gunners' manager revealed Ramsey, along with Nacho Monreal are fit to face Roberto Martinez' side this weekend.

"Aaron and Nacho Monreal are back training with the squad, so that is good news. Hopefully they will be available for Sunday. Diaby is back on the pitches, so that is good news," Wenger told the club's official website.

The Emirates club are fourth in the Premier League table with 64 points from 32 points, leading fifth place Toffees by five points. However, Everton have a game in hand and a defeat to the Merseyside club at Goodison Park can put a dent on Arsenal's chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

With the Premier League title out of their hands, the Gunners' best chance to win silverware is to win the FA Cup. Wenger has seen his side reach the last four of the competition, where they take on winner Wigan Athletic at Wembley later this month.

The other two teams are Hull City and Sheffield United, who are the other teams to make it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The winner of the tie will face either Arsenal or Wigan in the finals.

Wenger's side are the favourites to win the FA Cup this season. The return of Ramsey to the squad has not only lifted everyone in the squad, but also their manager and the club's fans.

Ramsey has been instrumental in Arsenal's impressive form earlier this season. He has scored 10 goals and has seven assist to his name, from 24 games played in all competitions this campaign.

With Ramsey's return from injury, Wenger can also focus on finishing the season in top four, while keeping their Champions League dream for next season alive. The timing of the Welshman's return is such that he can be involved in action against Everton, who are just behind Arsenal's tail for a top four finish.

A victory over Everton later this weekend will see them go seven points clear ahead of the Merseyside club. Also, Ramsey could play a crucial role against Wigan to seal a place in the FA Cup finals.

All in all, Ramsey's return will be a welcome boost for Wenger and Arsenal.
