Mourinho Hoping His Words Will Inspire Chelsea's Goal-Shy Strikeforce - Will It Work?

Ahead of this evening’s game at the Parc Des Princes, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on the goalscoring resources that Paris Saint-Germain are able to select from. It is no secret that the ‘Special One’ has a burning desire to add more firepower to his squad before the start of the next campaign.

I believe Mourinho has been very subtle with his choice of words as he prepares his team for one of their toughest tests this season. By expressing admiration for the attacking assets that PSG possess, he will be hoping that this can help inspire his misfiring strikeforce.

Deep down the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan manager will be confident that his colossal defence can stand tall against the likes of the mercurial Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However he knows that an away goal tonight could go a long way in what is arguably the most difficult Champions League quarter-final to call.

The goalscoring struggles of the Stamford Bridge outfit were once again evident on Saturday as they were unable to find the breakthrough against a battling Crystal Palace side at Selhurst Park.

Therefore theoretically the odds really are stacked against the Blues, but how often in the past have we seen a side managed by Jose Mourinho produce a tactical masterclass to produce a result that none of us expected?

It’s time for the Chelsea strikers to finally stand up and be counted.
