Manchester United: Dump Cleverley And Sign La Liga Midfielder With 12 Goals And 16 Assists

All this talk of Tom Cleverley has got me thinking. Is the England international good enough for a Premier League club aiming for the top? It didn't take me long to come to an answer though. He's not a player I rate very highly, and despite the fact he was such a promising player at a younger level he has not lived up to his hype.

The backlash that Roy Hodgson received when he selected him for last night's was over the top, I don't think many would argue about that. But the fact is that he's just not good enough to play at the top level.

For me I would look to move him on in the summer and make a move for Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic. He is just the ticket that United need right now. He has bundles of energy, the ability to command the middle of the pitch and the technique that would see him do well in the English topflight.

This season he has scored 12 goals across all competitions and has notched 16 assists, which is a brilliant return from any player, in any league.

His vision is superb and his all round game is far superior to that of Cleverley's, which is scary considering he's just a year older.
