Liverpool CAN Win The Premier League Title - Here's How

Liverpool continued their winning ways at the weekend, beating Southampton 3-0, with goals from Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling, and Steven Gerrard. The three points were important for the Reds, sending them into 2nd place in the Premier League table, behind only Chelsea, who are four points clear.

Now, believe it or not, we’re already in the home stretch of the Premier League season. May is just around the corner and it’s crunch time for the clubs that really want a Champions League qualifying spot, and of course, the Premier League title itself.

Liverpool have impressed me quite a bit this season. A mixture of the goals they’ve scored so far this season and the fact that some clubs that are usually in the top four each season, like Manchester United and recently Tottenham, have not been doing so great, has been enjoyable for me to watch.

Personally, I’m ecstatic that Chelsea are currently top, and as a totally biased Chelsea fan I really think we’re going to win the title. But, just for fun, I’m going to discuss some things that I think Liverpool will need to do in order to finally lift that trophy once again.

The first thing that Liverpool need to do is obviously a no brainer, keep the goal scoring up. Liverpool are currently the highest scoring club in the Premier League, and Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are the two top scorers in the league as well.

I am more than impressed with what Suarez has been doing this season. Especially considering last season everybody hated him. I think that it’s actually quite interesting how one impressive season can completely change the media, as well as the fans' viewpoint on a player. It’s funny to think that just a year ago Suarez was being suspended for the infamous biting of Chelsea defender Branaslav Ivanovic, as well as being investigated by the FA for the use of racial slurs on the pitch.

But, hey, more power to him if there was a way to get away from negative press, having one of the best seasons of your career is the way to do it. I don’t see him slowing down anytime soon and if he continues to keep scoring goals every match for Liverpool, I don’t see why they can’t win the title this year.

Another thing that Liverpool can do to win the title is to keep relying on their homegrown talent. With the exception of Luis Suarez, much of Liverpool’s talent has come from English players. I think it would benefit the club for Brendan Rodgers to keep his English players in the line up. The most obvious example is, of course, Steven Gerrard, who is a legend for both Liverpool as well as England.

In regards to Gerrard, I have the same mentality as I do when it comes to John Terry and Chelsea. Strong leadership is really what makes or breaks a team, and having Gerrard as a strong, consistent player in the mid field, leading the reds both on the pitch, as well as in the locker room, is super beneficial for Liverpool. Raheem Sterling has always pleasantly surprised me when he makes his way to the first team as well. With him being so young, and already making a positive influence when he’s on the pitch, he could really be molded into a phenomenal Liverpool player.

Both Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson are both English players as well. Not quite as young as sterling, both 24 and 23 respectively, but hey are both commonly on the score sheet for Liverpool, especially the former.

I think that the fact that Liverpool possess so many notable players that are all English is a real advantage. These boys grew up playing football in England, they know how the country works and that could really be an important factor this season when the title race is as close as it is at the top of the table.

What a disappointing non-story.. so Liverpool can win the title by keeping scoring goals and using English players...? Amazing insight. When are we going to find out HOW they are going to do it? Maybe a wee bit of fixture analysis, some comment on tactics, formation etc..

Well this is a blog and it is an opinion piece. It's meant to be the opinion of the author not an expose on a team. We can read match reports to find out fixture analysis from any website and sure we can look into various formations and tactics but perhaps those are things that the author has written about previously and would not like to repeat over again. There are various things to look into for a subject such as this. So perhaps next time, before you leave a rude comment you should take a moment to realize what kind of article you are reading and not be so quick to judge.
