Letting Celtic into the Premier League is a win for English Football

Yesterday the UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino allowed discussion to open between Scottish Premier League side Celtic and the UEFA board for a future move to the English Premier League. The move of major Scottish sides Celtic and Rangers to the Premier League has been lobbied for numerous years. However if UEFA allow the Scottish teams to join the League, it seems to benefit the FA and English Football.

If Celtic join the Premier League it brings more money into the Premier League market allowing more talent from around the world to join the Premier League. It also allows Scottish football and football style a greater spectacle during Premier League season allowing greater viewership and more televised games. This is being experienced in Wales currently with both Cardiff City and Swansea FC two of the major Welsh sides competing in the league. This allows further progress to the league.

Also the addition of Celtic and/or Rangers allows the English football another claim to two popular and wealthy clubs in the world adding to their all ready impressive list of competitive sides. Chelsea manager Jose Murinho recently told the Daily Mail that he would gladly welcome both the Scottish sides into the Premier League. However UEFA may want to consider if they allow the move to place the sides in the Championship and allow the sides to gain promotion into the top flight rather than handing them a spot

However the idea of Scottish football joining the league has left majority of Premier League  sides reluctant. As they are worried that it could see English clubs relegated down their Scottish counterparts. For the moment the possibility is only being discussed and if the Scottish clubs are given the okay, but a move to the EPL will still be many years in the future. Yet it is still an interesting prospect.

    BPL 1 (18 Teams) & BPL 2 (22 teams)

With regards to the Jose Murinho comment, I don't believe he included Rangers at all in his statement. He said he'd love to see Celtic play in the EPL.

And did you actually refer to Rangers as a "wealthy club"????? Give me strength!!

The time really has come once and for all for people to stop referring to Celtic & Rangers as some sort of package deal. Rangers are dead, Celtic are prospering.
