Moyes Out? Manchester United Need To Forget About Van Gaal

There has been many an opinion shared on the demise of the Premier league champions. David Moyes has come under fire from some die hard Manchester United fans who have questioned whether the former Everton man is up to the task in hand.

It would seem everyone has an opinion as to what has gone wrong at Old Trafford and even who would replace Moyes at the helm of the Manchester club.

The Manchester Evening News has reported that Louis van Gaal is being lined up to take over proceedings at Old Trafford which, in my eyes, would somewhat go against the grain. The reason that Moyes was hired was that he was thought to have an air of stability about him and that he had the blessing of Sir Alex Ferguson, which only added weight to the appointment.

Van Gaal admittedly has a incredibly successful CV within the game and currently oversees the Dutch national team but if there is one thing that he does not offer it is stability. He has built a reputation of a club fixer, much like his fellow countryman Guus Hiddink. Apart from Van Gaal's managerial debut at Ajax he has only stayed at one club for a maximum duration of three years.

If Manchester United are seriously considering replacing Moyes just one year into his 5 1/2 year contract then it needs to be someone who is a household name, but someone who has not clocked up too many miles. There are a few names that spring to mind - Jurgen Klopp and Diego Simeone have both done impressive jobs at Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid respectively and would definitely fit the criteria.

That being said Manchester United have several times released statements giving their full support to Moyes who they seem to have given their unwilting backing. Whether that support will remain without any European football next season remains to be seen.
