Manchester United Unrest Will Only Kill The Club

Every club has bad seasons. That is the beauty of football; one year things can be absolutely terrible with no luck whatsoever, but the next we see the stars align and the same team are enjoying success.

Did Manchester United fans really expect David Moyes to slip seamlessly into his new role and keep up the winning ways of his predecessor just like that? I, like many other non-loving United fans, have enjoyed this season's horror show at Old Trafford.

It has made a welcome change, and I just can't help myself but chuckle a little when I read quotes from Rio Ferdinand stating he is too ashamed to leave his house following what has been a terrible defence of their league title.

Ferdinand is too ashamed to do the school run because he is worried about what people might say? Ridiculous. What a stupid thing to say from one of the senior figures in United's dressing room, and it only serves to compound the pressure that has been built up on Moyes for the whole season.

Yes, it has been a poor season but I think it is safe to say that the actions of some fans following Tuesday night's derby loss to Manchester City was something of an over reaction. Sir Alex Ferguson left Moyes with a squad that was in need of serious maintenance, a fact acknowledged by Moyes himself, and despite it being pretty much the same team that won the league last year, it is no longer Ferguson at the helm and that is something United fans have to come to terms with.

The fly past in protest of Moyes that we witnessed during today's lunchtime kick off against Aston Vila does nothing to help the situation, and if this rebellion spreads throughout the whole fan base then the United hierarchy will have to take the embarrassing step of dismissing Moyes long before his six year contract is up.
