Why Arsenal Star Will Struggle To Make World Cup Squad

The World Cup is the most prestigious footballing event in the history of the game. As it only occurs every four years, players don't get the chance to play in the World Cup as much as they'd like to. For some they become too old to play or simply not as good as they were four years previous. For Jack Wilshere this will be, if he goes, his first World Cup.

He hasn't had previous experience, he's young, eager and will just be ecstatic during his time. However, there is a big chance that he won't make it because of broken foot he received when he went into a tackle with Daniel Agger just two weeks ago. The Express were first to publish an article on the injury update that the player suffered.

In his current state, it's clear he won't be back in action anytime soon. This is bad news for him, Arsenal, Gooners and also England, because they'll miss his unique talent.

One reason for this is that while he's on the sidelines, his other competitors for a place are playing and some are performing very well. However, the ones which are not can easily pick up form whenever they want. If five or six players are all playing good football for their domestic sides while Wilshere waits to return, then he might not make the flight as Roy Hodgson may not see the point in taking him.

Another point to make, which will be my last, is the fact that Wilshere might not regain his form or any sign that he's got what it takes to be on that flight to Rio. He may have sluggish games and lose his sharpness, which is crucial to the modern game player. Despite his ability, it is a possibility that could ruin his chances.

The form of those around him and his own form (when he returns from injury) could mean that the player will struggle to make the World Cup squad.
