Manchester City Linked With £30m Full-Back - Here's Why He Would Be A Perfect Fit

Manchester City are reported to be lining up an audacious £30 million bid in the summer for Southampton’s young England prodigy, Luke Shaw.

Manuel Pellegrini is thought to be an admirer of the 18-year-old and was linked with signing the Saints player in the January transfer window, but no formal approach was made.

With Pellegrini looking to build on his squad, he is undoubtedly searching for a suitable cover and long term replacement to Gael Clichy at left-back.  He may see Shaw as a better alternative, considering his pace and power has terrorised so many defences this season already.

Personally, Clichy has failed to impress this season so I think Luke Shaw would be a perfect replacement to help bolster the squad for next season.  Providing he is convinced by Pellegrini that he will have first team action then I think it would be one of the transfers of the summer.

With an average shot and pass accuracy of 71% so far this season for the Saints, Shaw is currently hot property and is likely to receive bids left right and centre from some top teams come the summer.

It certainly won’t do his England future any harm whatsoever but if he gets only a handful of games in a season then he might be best placed to stay put at St. Mary’s.

As the season draws to a close it will be interesting to see what happens with his future.
