THREE Chelsea Players Who Disappointed In Aston Villa Defeat

Well, who saw that one coming? Chelsea fell to a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa this evening and ended the game with 9 men and without a manager, as Willian, Ramires and Jose Mourinho were all dismissed.

With Manchester City winning this afternoon it leaves the Stamford Bridge side sweating. Chelsea are still six points clear at the top of the Premier League but City have three games in hand. Villa deserved the win in my eyes, and ignoring the fact that the Blues were let down by a couple of people who were sent off, here are three players who disappointed.

    1) Nemanja Matic

The Serbian was far from on top of his game. Aston Villa are an energetic side who cover a huge amount of distance in the middle of the park. It's that desire that won them the game, and Matic wasn't up to the hunger of his opponents.

His positioning was poor, he was poor in his headed duels and completed just one of his seven tackles.

    2) Cesar Azplicueta

For me this is the perfect time for Ashley Cole to come back into the side. The England international has had to be patient as a result of Azpilicueta's form, but his shoddy performance at Villa Park could give Cole a way back in.

The Spaniard ended the game well, but throughout he looked like he was chasing shadows. It didn't help that the central two had an off rare day, as Azpilicueta had to come across, but I would play Cole for the Champions League clash against Galatasaray.

    3) Demba Ba

There is nothing about the former Newcastle man, in my eyes. He's slow, he's poor in possession and struggles to link up with the more intricate players around him. For me Chelsea have a problem up top and it's up to Jose Mourinho to find a solution. Ba is not the answer.
