Childish And Petulant: Sherwood Is Using Manager Spat To Mask Poor Spurs Performance

Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood had a rant last night in a press conference, accusing opposite number, Jorge Jesus, of lacking class during Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat in the Europa League.  After Benfica’s Luisao had scored their third goal at White Hart Lane, the Benfica boss responded by sticking three fingers up at Tim Sherwood, waving goodbye.

At the end of the day, Sherwood is just bitter that his team were outplayed on the night by a better side, and felt he had to react to the childish actions of Jorge Jesus.  Yes, it was a petulant thing to do but he needs to focus more on why they lost last night and what they can do to remedy the situation in the return leg.

Yes, he was full of praise for the way Benfica out played his Tottenham side but the guy is picking at straws.  Some fans will see that comment is not acceptable and helpful to the cause.

Too many times we have seen managers pick at something out of nothing, using such incidents as this as a smoke screen to try and blind us of the real reason why a team loses a game.

The likes of Arsene Wenger and the now retired Sir Alex Ferguson are renowned from time to time for finding his excuses when their sides lose, whether it is the match official performed badly or the poor playing surface.
