Moyes vs Pellegrini: £20m Serie A Goalkeeper Puts Manchester Clubs On Alert, But Who Needs Him More?

According to recent Italian report in Corriere Dello Sport, Inter Milan are looking to offload £20 million rated goal keeper Samir Handanovic, which has left Manchester United and Manchester City potentially vying for his signature this summer.

With both clubs said to be interested in the Slovenia international, I thought that I would ask who would benefit more from having the 29-year-old shot-stopper in their squad?

Whilst I believe Joe Hart is fast getting back to his best for Manchester City this season and re–cementing his place as first choice for coach Manuel Pellegrini, back up keeper Costel Pantilimon may want a move away to another club to get more first team action.  This would allow Handanovic a switch to the Etihad stadium as understudy to Joe Hart.

Despite a horrid season with Manchester United, David De Gea is still vital to David Moyes’s future plans and is still the preferred number one.  This is an area Manchester United have not done well in recent years since the retirement of Peter Schmeichel, yet De Gea has been number one for a few years now.

His number two at United, Anders Lindegaard, is someone I expect to see to move away in the summer, as like Pantilimon he deserves more regular football.

So will it be David Moyes or Manuel Pellegrini who will get out the cheque book and win the race for his signature? For me, I think United need him more as Pantilimon has shown his credentials at City this season, whereas Lindergaard is still struggling to make an impact.
