Why Liverpool Dodged A Bullet By Not Signing Winger

It's been a season to forget so far for Blackpool. Their poor form has seen them drop down the Championship table at some rate of late and they have recently lost their manager Paul Ince and their talisman Tom.

The 22-year-old winger joined Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season, though his dad has revealed that he turned down a move to Liverpool last month, according to the Mirror. It may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the Reds dodged a bullet in not signing him, as I don't think he is at the level that they are currently looking for.

Although he is a player who shines when his team-mates do, Blackpool's over-reliance on the wide-man saw him suffer this season and he's been lacklustre for the majority of the campaign. Playing with a higher calibre of player is likely to bring the best out of him though, and Palace are likely to benefit from that.

A move to Anfield would have been different I think. The pressure that comes with playing for Liverpool and the tempo that Brendan Rodgers' team plays at would have been too much for him in my eyes and I believe he would have gone hiding a lot of the time.

That's not to say he won't improve in the future, but I think they are better off with Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho in attack who are both streets ahead despite being younger than Ince. For me, Liverpool should be happy the winger turned them down, if indeed he did, and I believe many will agree with me come the end of the season.
