Why Arsenal Won't Win A Trophy This Season - Opinion

Arsenal may be in good spirit right now and they may be sat top of the Premier League, but in my opinion Arsene Wenger's men will again go trophy-less this season. Before you start to shout me down, or even criticise me for my views, hear me out.

The first reason I suggest they will fall flat is because of their lack of fire power in the striker department. Olivier Giroud has done well this season but he is their only viable striker right now and even when Nicklas Bednter returns to full fitness, he hasn't got much of a track record.

Compare their frontline to the likes of Manchester City's, Liverpool's or even Manchester United's and I believe that's the reason they will fall short in the Premier League.

They are still in the Champions League, but with Bayern Munich to get past in the knockout stages, I can't see them progressing. Bayern have so much quality and so many natural winners in their squad that I think it will be relatively straight forward for the current European champions.

Another reason is because of their run of games starting from their next - they travel to Liverpool before hosting Manchester United and after that they have Liverpool and Bayern in cup competitions. Their morale will be through the floor should they lose a couple of those and Manchester City could pull away should results go their way.

As I said, Liverpool are next in the FA Cup, and I think Brendan Rodgers' men will be desperate to continue their cup run as they look doubtful to make a title challenge.

Having read my reasons, I hope you now realise why I think Arsenal will continue their barren run.

You just a pessimist, lets wait and see how things pan out! Arsenal have belief and have been consistent. They have the right mental attitude this season so far and have been taking each game as it comes. That is the logical way really, I mean there is no way fretting over the future games and fixture list, no matter how daunting it looks. The Gunners have been pragmatic and played intelligently. I think that bodes well for the remainder of the season, as long as the chaps remain focused and determined I fee
l they could win a trophy this season. Thank You

Yes...I now realise that you are a fool without the slightest clue of what the game is all about.

Arsenal will not win all their remaining games this season. But over the last 12 months they have taken more points from the accumulated league fixtures than any other team, despite crushing cup losses (I think getting knocked out by lower div teams is worse than possibly best club in Europe). Currently 2 points clear at the top (or "in touch with MC and Chelsea" as Lineker calls it) the league is Arsenals to lose.
The FA cup is a one-off. The likely teams are all close, and as Liverpools non-participation in Europe doesn't seem to be a massive benefit any of the could win it. Including Arsenal.
But as you say, it's your opinion. You're entitled to it, and if it's what you really believe will ensure you aren't disappointed.

Ok so you asked me to compare our attack with that of Man U. I did, we've scored 20% more goals. For the sake of a balanced argument I also compared our defence too....and blow me down, we've conceded less goals than all three of the teams you mention.

You next mention our coming run of games. Well let's face it, we have to play them some time and in another season people would be saying Arsenal were up against it because of a tricky run-in...........we don't have a tricky run in this year.

Can I give you a reason why you think Arsenal will continue a baron [sic] run? I think it's because you're a naive pessimist who likes to find fault and if we won the title on the back of 37 wins and 1 draw, you'd moan about having dropped two points. We have a new breed of glory hunter we inherited because of Arsene Wenger and the club's success and now we have to put up with this ill-informed bilge. We don't need so called "supporters" like this at the club. We get enough of this negativity from the press.

They obviously let any old fool write for this blog. Your first premise is incorrect. You seem to be suggesting that a deficit in the striker department means a deficit in'fire-power'. Arsenal, arguably, have got the best array of attacking midfied talent in the PL, with goals coming from players all over the park, so this fixation with lack of strikers = lack of goals is a complete red herring. Combined with one of the strongest central defence partnerships in the league - AFC have yet to lose a game while Mertesacker and Koscielny are paired together - and a higjly apparent positive team spirit this season, this team have all the ingredients for achieving at least one trophy for the 2013/2014 campaign. One advantage is that all pundits and nay-sayers are constantly downplaying the team's chances, which is helpful as it takes away a lot of pressure from the players. However, despite what the so-called 'experts' of every calibre tell us there is a small matter of the fact that Arsenal remain on top of the league - as the old saying goes: "the league doesn't lie".

U are naïve and bias. Tell us one (1) club in the top flight that had never sufferred defit by Arsenal?
