Determined: A Closer Look At Rooney's Performance vs Crystal Palace

Rooney may have signed a new, big money deal at Manchester United this week, and fans of the game may have shared their anger regarding his new reported salary, but he went some way to showing why he is earning so much money with a fine performance against Crystal Palace. United ran out 2-0 winners at Selhurst Park and Rooney's strike was the highlight of the game. For me, anyway.

He swung a leg at the ball from the edge of the area and it span away from Speroni and into the top corner of the net in spectacular fashion.

It crowned what was a glorious performance from the former Everton forward.

Rooney went up for six headers, attempted three dribbles and completed 60 of his 71 attempted passes, which for a striker is good going. Rooney is a player who loves having the ball at his feet, whether that be in the central forward position or in the wider areas, he loves having control of the game.

He also showed his determination to keep things tight at the back as he made two interceptions during the game, which is typical of the England international.

For me he was the best player on the pitch and I'm glad he got his goal.
