The Frenchman is a bit of a marmite player at the Santiago Bernabeu - for every fan who loves him there is one who continues to pick holes in his form and questions his ability.

Madrid supporters have always been a bunch that admire players who give their all and chase down loose balls, but Benzema isn't one of them.

Instead he chooses which runs to make and when to make them, while he also carries a lot of silk in his game in a way that he'd rather flick a pass to a team-mate than do the gritty stuff.

Benzema has 16 goals so far this season from 29 appearances but he has also registered nine assists. He is a physically strong player who loves to throw his weight around but he is notably agile on his feet - something which would see him fit in nicely at Anfield.

Should they reach the Champions League then they will need a certain pedigree of players, and I think Benzema would be a fine choice.
