Will Arsenal Regret Missing Out On Striker?

According to reports, Arsenal failed with a late bid to bring Miroslav Klose to the Emirates from Lazio until the end of the season. Although the German is now 35 and reaching the end of his career, I believe that the Gunners may regret not landing him, or another forward, in the January transfer window. Here's why.

There's no question in my mind, Arsenal have been too reliant on Olivier Giroud this season. The France international has been involved in 31 games for the club this season and is likely to be involved from the start tomorrow against Crystal Palace.

He has had a good season - he has scored 14 goals in his game time this season - but with Theo Walcott out for the rest of the season, Nicklas Bendtner never being the most reliable and Podolski not a natural forward, I believe that he needs some help up top.

That's where Klose would've fit perfectly. The fact that he is towards the later stages of his career would surely mean that he would acknowledge his place on the bench, but he has the attributes to make an impact all the same.

This season for Lazio he has played 15 games and scored five goals, as well as grabbing an assist.

The fact that they made a bid, or were at least reported to have done, means that Wenger is aware of the problem. For me, they could live to regret missing out, especially considering the power of the rest of the top four's strike forces.
