Why Chelsea Should Move For Centre-Back With 91% Tackles Success

Think of the Chelsea backline and your mind will instantly flicker to John Terry who is the heart of the club. Alongside the stalwart this season has been Gary Cahill, who has been brilliant for the majority of it, and David Luiz who has played a bit-part cameo under Jose Mourinho. For me, though, there is one man who is the future of the Stamford Bridge outfit's backline, and that's Kurt Zouma.

Despite still being just 19, the St Etienne centre-half has already played over 50 first team games for the club, as well as a number of appearances in the France youth sides.

This season Zouma has played 11 games in Ligue 1 but has missed the last six outings with an ankle injury. Before he picked up his niggle, Zouma was in fine form - he has won 91% of his tackles, 36 of his 45 headed duels and has averaged 11 defensive actions per game.

He is a monster of a player in every sense. He is domineering in the air and combative on the ground, but he's also capable with the ball at his feet. So far this term he has completed 86% of his passes and he only looks to be getting better.

I feel that if he makes a move to west London then he would benefit from Terry's desire, leadership and hunger for the game, as well as the knowledge of Mourinho. The blend could make him an incredible player in the future.
