How Should Liverpool Line Up Against Oldham Today?

Liverpool host Oldham today in the third round of the FA Cup so I thought that I would have a look and see what I would choose as my starting 11 ahead of the tie. As much as I am for mixing the team up and introduce youngsters, I feel Liveprool need to keep their good run of form going, so here is my team.

In goal, I think Rodgers should opt for Brad Jones. Simon Mignolet has been brilliant this season, though perhaps not as spectacular as last year with Sunderland, but could do with a rest. Jones is a solid replacement, especially against League One opposition.

At right-back I would stick Jon Flanagan in. The 21-year-old has made seven league appearances this season and has shown signs of improvement in each.

In the middle of the back four would be Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho, both of who are able in the air and on the floor, though don't possess a huge amount of pace. To make up for that I would have Aly Cissokho at left-back. Although he has struggled since he turned up at Anfield, he should have more than enough quality to deal with the Oldham attack.

In the two pivots, I would choose Jordan Henderson and Joe Allen. The former could provide the energy and continue his sparkling form and the latter can keep the ball moving in the middle.

In front of them I would have Victor Moses on the left, Raheem Sterling on the right and Philippe Coutinho just behind Iago Aspas.

The quality up top should be enough to see off their opponents before Rodgers can make a few substitutes to wrap his main players in cotton wool, so to speak.
