Why Arsenal Should Forget About Berbatov And Move For £8m Serie A Striker

We have heard it a million times and we are likely to hear it another million times before the month is out - Arsenal need a striker to boost their chances of winning the Premier League. There have been various names thrown about since the end of last season, but there have been two standout forwards since the January transfer window opened. Yesterday the Sun reported that Dimitar Berbatov is a target, and the Mirror say that they could move for £8m-rated Juventus frontman Mirko Vucinic, and I am here to suggest that the Gunners should forget about the former and concentrate on the latter.

Vucinic is currently plying his trade in Turin but is struggling with holding down a place as Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente continue to do the business up top for the Italian side.

Vucinic has yet to play a full 90 minutes this season but has made seven appearances, scoring once and creating six chances.

He is a predatory player who thrives on little slipped balls into the box, something which Arsenal can deliver on a regular basis for him.

The Gunners need a player who can put the ball in the back of the net, something Vucinic has done on 20 occasions in his 70 games at Juve. He has also scored 15 goals in 36 games for his country Montenegro.

He's a powerful player who creates space for himself and can open up space for his colleagues and would offer something completely different to what the north London side currently have.
