Why Former Manchester United Midfielder Turned Down Premier League Return

Sir Alex Ferguson made an enormous gaffe when he let Paul Pogba leave Old Trafford last year. The powerhouse midfielder went on to be one of the most exciting young players in European football whilst he was stuck with a lack of options in the middle. Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho seems to agree, as the Express are reporting that both Arsenal and Chelsea were interested in securing his signature this summer.

The 20-year-old has declared that the turned down a return to the Premier League because of his love for Juventus, which has to be taken with a pinch of salt. How often do we hear players scream their love of the club they're signing for, only to say the same thing at their next side?

Pogba made 27 appearances in Serie A last season, scoring five goals and creating a further 22 chances for his Juventus colleagues. He won 55% of his duels, completed 83% of his passes and made three defensive actions per season.

Whether or not he would get a look in at Chelsea with the number of midfielders they hold is a debate I'll leave to you, but he would have been perfect for Arsenal, in my opinion. His athleticism is something the Gunners desperately require, as they line up with Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla as the spine of their midriff. Throw in Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott and you have an average height of about 4 foot nothing.

    You slipped up, Fergie.
