Manchester United Agree Fee For Everton Midfielder, But How Does He Compare To Current Crop? The Statistics

The articles regarding Manchester United's search for a central midfielder may be coming to a conclusion as the Metro Report that a deal of £20m has been agreed with Everton. You can already see the marketing department rubbing their hands together as the fuzzy wigs are being ordered. But is the Belgian the man that David Moyes has been looking for in the middle? We take a look at the statistics and come to a conclusion on whether we fancy him to make an impact or not.

On paper, you'd have to say he looks perfect for the Old Trafford midriff. He's big, powerful, strong on the ball, good in the air, has an eye for a pass, adds a bit of spice in the middle, can make a tackle and is able to spark attacks.

Fellaini created 40 opportunities last season,  the same as Antonio Valencia and more than both Shinji Kagawa and Tom Cleverley combined.

The Everton man's pass success was a measly 79%, lower than anyone on the United squad bar Nick Powell, but his shot accuracy (60%) was only surpassed by the now departed-Paul Scholes and Shinji Kagawa.

But the Belgian, in my opinion, is ideal for the United midfield. The fee is meaningless, as without another man in the middle their title ambitions could falter.
