Analysing The Formula Of A Premier League Goal (Video)

If you’re looking for spectacular goals, the Premier League is the place to go.

Over the course of a season we witness many goals, with each one meaningful in its own unique way.  Whether it’s a 30-yard thunderbolt or a smart finish round the keeper, football fans cherish any moment when their team finds the net.

Goals can often have different emotional attachments, depending on when they are scored, where they are scored and who they scored against.  And that is without taking into account the basic implications of the goal.  Moreover, combining all of these elements can have one hell of an impact.  For example, a 94th-minute strike at Wembley against your rivals to win the FA Cup final would quite literally send fans into delirium.

With each Premier League goal meaning so much, some of the celebrations we see from players and supporters are hardly surprising.  The shock factor of some strikes has the ability to take our breath away, as they seemingly come out of nowhere before flying into the net.

On the first day of the season, goals usually bear no more significance than simply deciding the result of a match.  Whether that means a team take a point, all three or leave empty-handed, people tend to draw a line under the fixture, with the view that there are still 37 games to go in which many more goals will surely follow.

After an arduous campaign, the most recent displays of brilliance are often the only ones fans can recall.  For people to remember a goal that was scored on the opening day, it would have to have been good.

Here are a few strikes to savour ahead of those awaiting us in 2013/14.
